We're back with more tips you should follow to have the kitchen of your dreams. If you haven't read the first part of these post, check it out here! #7 Choose your materials wisely From your countertops to cabinetry or handles, make sure you choose your materials wisely. If you spend a lot of time in your kitchen and have a family growing around you, make sure you choose materials that have a long-lasting life and are resistant to wear & tear, balancing it with the design and styling aspect. #8 Create an internal design that’s bespoke to your needs Do you have a massive collection of pans and pots? Is your knife collection a standout? Is your porcelain very precious to you? When designing the interior of your cabinetry, make sure you make a conscious plan for all you own. Create divisions for your cutlery, a variety of scales for your drawers, and maybe leave your most beautiful pieces out on shelves so that you can show them off. Have a look at how to make the most of your space with these ten tips. #9 Pay attention to details- electrical outlets Paying attention to design and livelihood details is mandatory when designing a kitchen. The first one is planing your electrical sockets with care. Make sure you have quite a few ones adjacent to your worktops so that you can use or place certain appliances there; don’t place them too close to your sink; if you have an island, try to include them in its design… Overall, think wisely about where you place them and how many you can incorporate in your design. #10 Pay attention to details- Waste and recycle bins With kitchen use, comes a lot of waste and recycling. Make sure you leave quite a bit of space for this waste and make it so that it is not too far from your sink and cutting surfaces. #11 Make your cleaning easy Yes, you will want to make the most out of your beautiful kitchen by hosting quite a few dinners for your family and friends. But know what comes after hosting? Lots to clean and organise. Think about how to minimise what you have out in the open on your surfaces- the cleaner your worktops are, the easier they are to clean! #12 Have fun with your choices From finding the right worktop to finding the best colours for your space, make sure you have a lot of fun designing a kitchen that suits you and your family. Have a look at our favourite details to use in a kitchen as inspiration. Final thoughts Overall, there are quite a few things to consider when designing your dream kitchen. Breaking it down per chapter will help you set your priorities and discuss them with your designer. Make sure you create a kitchen that stands through time and accommodates the changes in your family life, as well as great design, finishes and styling.
